Ichi Cigarette Packaging

From a rebellious daughter to a
niche problem solved —

After trying to quit smoking by going cold turkey, most people would pick the habit up again. A rebellious daughter was determined to quit smoking even if it meant finding a creative way to cut down gradually.

And she did.

With that, Ichi Cigarette was born – a niche Singapore creative who came out with a packaging solution that would help people around the world cut smoking gradually by packaging cigarettes individually.
The individually packed cigarettes were crafted towards people who wanted to have the option of smoking lesser daily. The conscientious effort of buying lesser cigarettes per day would eventually lead to a gradual stop.

The challenged faced here was inventing a new user experience from using a single hand to open the packaging to placing the cigarette between the user’s lips. The airtight vacuum was specifically thought of to prevent each cigarette from softening.
By working closely with the local community and designers, Ichi Cigarette has decided to return to it’s origins where in Singapore, local mom and pop shops used to take them out from their original packaging and selling them individually.

In that, there is a certain nostalgic remembrance which reflects in the overall design.
